Fluffy fun

23 December 2006, 15:39

My boyfriend’s sister is expecting her second child in February, and I just happened to draw her name in the family’s Christmas exchange, so I thought it was fitting to make up another baby changing mat for her new arrival. This time I used a pale green hand towel and some red fabric with baby Japanese animals on it, which is very cute indeed! I used a few scraps from that fabric to make six lavender satchets to go with the mat (I figure I’m giving her the gift of sleep if she wraps up a few of these in the baby’s bedding!).

But I didn’t stop there – this baby is also going to have an adorable (and fluffy!) bunny waiting for him or her! I used the remnants from the Santa costume to make a Wee Wonderfuls bunny with a very fluffy tail and ears and a very soft velour body. And I didn’t want to leave out the big sister, so for 19-month-old Millie I made this festive fluffy snowman out of some fun fur and a bit of bias tape for a scarf. I came up with the pattern myself using the bunny as a starting point, and I gave it some embroidered “coal” eyes and buttons.

Happy Christmas!
